You know that feeling when something you’ve been wishing for finally happens? That’s exactly how I felt when I discovered this new Microsoft Teams feature—one that’s going to save me (and probably you) loads of time and frustration.
Here it is: you can now view your colleagues’ calendars directly in Teams.
I know, it’s not some flashy, life-changing feature, but it is going to make life so much easier.
Why this is such a big deal
If you’re like me, you spend most of your day in Teams—chatting, jumping on calls, or managing tasks. It’s become my default workspace. But up until now, anytime I needed to check if a colleague was free, I’d have to switch over to Outlook. It doesn’t sound like a big deal, but when you’re trying to stay in the flow, even little disruptions like that are annoying.
Now, I can just stay in Teams. Open the calendar, check availability, and crack on with scheduling. No app-hopping, no wasted time—it’s all right there where I need it.
How to enable it
If you haven’t noticed this feature yet, don’t worry—it’s easy to get it up and running.
First, make sure you’ve updated Teams (head over to Settings and hit Update Teams if you haven’t already). Then, to access the new experience, go to your Teams calendar and look for the toggle in the top-right corner to switch on ‘New Calendar.’
Once that’s done, you’ll see a new option on the left side to open your colleagues’ calendars.
It’s funny how the simplest updates can make the biggest difference. I’m genuinely excited about this one because it’s such a small quality-of-life improvement that just… works. Microsoft clearly listened to what people were asking for, and it shows.
